When my brother was in his 20’s he went on a long trip to South Africa with a close friend. They stopped in New Zealand to visit a pastor friend. The three sat out on the beach and the pastor said something reflectively that my brother never forgot. “If we only really understood grace, it would change everything.”
Grace is what the world desperately needs. Grace is what we need. I think of grace as the ability and decision to accept people and love people in spite of their imperfections. Grace doesn’t ignore faults, it simply does not allow faults to get in the way of love. Grace frees up our hearts from the need and demand to judge others correctly and fairly.
Families cry out for grace. Friends hunger for our grace. Those different from us look for the rare person who will offer grace.
Grace will transform our lives if we will let it. Grace will remove our hard edge. Grace will heal damaged or broken relationships. God is the author of grace. He freely offers us grace. Should we not also offer grace to those around us?
Consider where grace might change your world. Begin with small steps of extending grace to those you see and touch today. Watch for the transforming power of grace!
