As you might have already guessed, I love to learn and I love to teach, whether in writing, in front of large groups, or one on one. For me, there is nothing like that aha! moment when someone learns something that helps them grow.

A little background might be helpful. I live in Richmond, Virginia where I’ve spent most all my life. I have been married to Weezie since 1981. She is the love of my life and my encourager in everything I do. We have had an extraordinary life together, but one that has recently been marked by tremendous suffering and grief. In 2010, our daughter, Perrin, was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer at age 20. She fought with amazing courage and grace for almost 7 years, but died the day after Thanksgiving 2016. Our family’s journey through those 7 years and since then has shaped us in so many ways. We also have two sons, Chris and Alex, who are pursuing careers in the finance arena here in Richmond. They are fantastic and I am so proud of them!

My life so far has taken me down many diverse roads, which have become a part of my story and what I love to teach about. After graduating from Davidson College in 1980, I obtained a Masters of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary and promptly went into business with my brother. Over 30 years of partnership together, we have owned and operated businesses in the manufacturing, retail, service, and real estate worlds. Over these years, I worked in about every function possible in these businesses. On the side, I love teaching in a wide variety of venues at church and beyond. I lead a Mentoring Ministry at our church and find mentoring several guys here in Richmond incredibly meaningful. I also can be rather obsessive about golf (my record is 120 holes played in one day). I am passionate about listening to God, learning from anyone and everyone, and teaching wherever I can make a difference.
